Rachel Burdett named Outstanding Female of the Year
Cor Cordis congratulates Rachel Burdett, Partner, named Outstanding Female of the Year in the 2024 Women in Insolvency and Restructuring (WIRV) Awards.
This award recognises Rachel Burdett as an exemplary leader who has made significant contributions to our industry including her efforts in the advancement of women.
Additional to her role as a Partner of Cor Cordis, Rachel is the National President of the Australian Restructuring, Insolvency and Turnaround Association (ARITA), elected to a second term in 2024.
“I am committed to prioritising collaboration, advocacy, and the promotion of sustainable practices throughout my tenure as ARITA President, with a strategic focus on investing in best practices. My achievements during my first term of presidency included enhancing our national education platforms, sustainable practices, and practitioner of the future (which embodies ESG and diversity objectives) and contributions to law reforms.
As a senior leader, I focus on elevating women in the industry and progressing broader DEI initiatives and awareness. My recent contributions include being a keynote speaker in IWD events including ARITA and WIRV’S celebrations. I also make time to speak in industry boardroom lunches and roundtable discussions.”
Rachel is the founding partner of the Cor Cordis National Women’s Forum, now in its eighth year, and leads the DEI Committee for the firm. DEI initiatives include events and activities aimed at creating confidence, connections and collaboration for women of all levels in the firm.
“Through our Women’s Forum, we have enhanced leadership opportunities, increased engagement, and grown the representation of women in our firm to nearly 50%, with women comprising over 30% of our senior leadership. I look forward to building an inclusive culture and creating strategic partnerships and mentorship opportunities, driving innovation and growth in our industry.”
Rachel is member of WIRV, the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), the Turnaround Management Association (TMA), and the ASIC Insolvency Practitioners Liaison Committee for Victoria. She is also an ARITA Fellow, Chair of the ARITA/ASIC/AFSA Liaison Committee and a committee member of ARITA’s Balanced Taskforce for DEI initiatives.
